Anyone want to share how stable they are finding Premiere CS6? Premiere is amazing to work on, you seldomly need to render and it’s extremely fast, not to mention it work naitively with all the most commonly used camera formats unlike final cut which requires you to transcode everything to prores then begin editing.

If you do decide to transcode and you don’t have to then you can transcode in the background, and FCP X will seamlessly swap to the transcoded media when it’s ready. You can also quit FCP X, delete the transcoded media in the Finder, then relaunch, and the original media will automatically relink. Better than all of that is that you can start editing with your footage while it’s copying from its media; before it’s even finished importing.

As soon as you press “Import”, every clip you chose is available, and you can work with the footage as you wish, just like regular media.

It plays straight off the memory card while it’s copying in the background. When copying finishes, it seamlessly swaps to the new copy.

Very good indeed. Really great tutorials to start from scratch. I’ve been following these tutorials for a couple of months. They are absolutely superb. Andrew doesn’t miss a thing and goes at a perfect pace. I’m putting them on my iPad so I can play the tutorial and work on my video file at the same time.

Are there corresponding videos for Adobe Premier Elements 9 or 10? Thank you for providing these tutorials with such precise details, even better than Adobe TV! I am new to Premiere and the detailed explanation of features is of great benefit.

FCP has been a very cumbersome experience. What with all that rendering. Avid MC has always been my tools of choice, will be happy to give Premiere pro a go. My timeline in Premiere Pro is all gray What happened?

Thanks for any other informative web site. Where else may I get that kiind of info written in such an ideal approach? I have a venture that I am ust now running on, and I’ve been at the look out for such info. If you might be a movie freak, then you better get yourself a head unit so you don’t need to visit a show house to take pleasure from great movies. The average consumer may be willing to be satisfied with this solution not knowing the truth. Did I miss something or what?

The title says 69 FREE videos. I just watched 10 and that was all that popped on my screen. However, I waited till the “bugs” were worked out and the product was at least semi or mostly finished and just when I finally downloaded a “trial” wouldn’t you know it, Apple makes it mandatory to upgrade to Mavericks, which all I read has a legacy of issues and especially with FCPX I want to learn this but WOW what a challenge.

I will be happy to get these color grading tutorial videos downloaded if the download link can be sent to my e-mail add. One person found this helpful. John B. As an Adobe Creative Cloud member, I have the latest updates as well, so should be ready to handle the files that are necessary to work through the lessons in the book. The lessons themselves are well laid out, and while I had a couple of moments where I went: “What??? Where is that button??? Unfortunately, some of the files just would not work.

Not only were these not linked to the project, but the files themselves seemed unavailable i. While this may all be due to codecs missing and such I am still in back and forth with Adobe Press about what is going on , the fact is we do not want to be spending hours trying to make the files work when we’re already spending hours learning the program.

Adobe Press offered the usual solution: find the files in the Lessons Asset folder and link them. When it came time to choose another ‘Classroom in a Book’ book for another software, I made the choice to go with something else because I just do not want to have to work around unusable files. And, of course, without the necessary files, trying to work through the lessons was a bit hellish. The sequence of the book is good and the lessons are reasonably thorough. The few details that prevent me from giving it a 5-Star rating: 1 The screen shots are very dim and small, so it was sometimes difficult to follow along visually when looking for the right option, menu or button when referencing the picture.

This may not be an issue with the e-book, but in print it was a challenge. Although the book covered how to relink files anyone who’s worked in other Adobe applications like Illustrator or InDesign can probably figure it out without much help , there was one lesson where the asset was completely missing and couldn’t be linked.

I wasn’t able to get much out of that chapter’s lesson as a result. I’d say all in all the book is still very good, but it seemed to fall a little short for the reasons I described here. I still recommend it, though. So far I’ve gotten through chapter nine in the book.

It is well laid out and very extensive so far. The lessons on the CD are very helpful but I’m beginning to want to see the entire movie with the sorcerer. Looks interesting. I only have one complaint but it’s not enough to reduce the rating. I’m constantly using a magnifying glass. My recommendation to Adobe is to include the screenshots on the DVD so a person can pull them up if they need to see more detail.

I’ve never used Premier pro before and find this book explains things very well. I’ve used other products in the Adobe suite and am pleased that some shortcut keys and icons for tools remain consistent throughout. Adobe is very good with that. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.

A useful book, I bought the same for learning InDesign. However editing is different to graphics, much more immediate and unfortunately this book doesn’t tell you what can go wrong or how to fix it when it does. For a virtually complete novice such as myself this was incredibly frustrating. It has a lot of information, much of it very useful but very overwhelming if you haven’t even got the basics down.

I gave up and turned to You Tube instead, learned a lot, understood more through trial and error then returned to the book which I found easier to understand with a bit of prior knowledge and a greater overview in my head. I would also recommend Cool Stuff in Premiere Pro by Jarle Leirpol search google not Amazon if you are really serious about editing to the best of the software and your ability. Report abuse.

I once had a lecturer state that, in his opinion, the lecture became obsolete with the advent of the printing press. I did not agree, but if you can’t attend a classroom based course, these books and associated video back up, make a useful substitute. Having used previous editions I have to say that I don’t find this edition for CS6 as polished as previous versions. There is a feeling of the text being a bit rushed and not quite as well checked out as it could have been in some places. For instance the text says to switch back to the project panel, but fails to tell you how.

There are a lot of screen shots illustrating the text, but some are too small or too dark to read without a magnifying glass. But over all, following the exercises reveals many hidden features that would not be discovered by experimenting alone.

I am finding it a worthwhile investment. This is an excellent book for beginners, with easy to follow lessons both written and on the accompanying DVD. I was able, as an absolute beginner on PPCS6, to produce a 5 minute video in less than a week, including sorting out some dodgy camera work. It also contains some useful tips on using other programs in the Adobe group.

Highly recommended. The book is clear to an almost beginner like myself, may be red chapter by chapter which follows the recommended procedure, or one can chose an independent chapter.

Also one may use the lessons schedule and videos or get the info he needs from the corresponding chapter. Personally I find what I need in the book pages. My only complaint is that the print in the photos is very small and I need glasses or magnifier or lots of light!
